  All registered papers will be published in SDIWC Digital Library, and in the proceedings of the conference.

Papers must be submitted through the online paper submission system found here. See Guidelines for Authors  for more information.

All papers will be fully refereed by a minimum of two specialized referees. Before final acceptance, all referees comments must be considered. SDIWC policy is to publish all the registered papers including the absent authors.

Everyone knows who Willie Revillame is.

Willie is the modern-day “knight in shining armor” of the poor, heartbroken, depressed, sidewalk vendors, widow(wer), ordinary workers, sick, old, handicapped, dreamers, frustrated, problematic, and the list of wannabes goes on and on.

Willie Revillame, an epitome of “from rugs to riches” story is now at par with Manny Pacquiao, Manny Villar and other rich and famous people in the Philippines. Willie Revillame is rich! Yes, he is financially stable and rich in talent.

Willie Revillame, unfortunately, can’t buy absolute happiness. He is always at the mercy of the hypocrites. Who then wants to be a millionaire like him?

The Hypocrites Line of Attack

The hypocrites are now in the limelight. They are few but their line of attack is like that of a vulture – always ready to eat its victim.

The hypocrites started their attack when they make big the simple story of a six-year-old boy who dances while in tears. The hypocrites did not bother to know the whole story; behind the scene tale; whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The voice of the people

Majority of Filipinos did not find the dance abusive. They watched the show and enjoyed the comedy. So the hypocrites used the internet. They slashed the segment enough to burst an outrageous roar of complaints.

Is not the voice of the millions who loved the show the supreme law? Those who commented on the internet do not represent the million Filipinos.

The hypocrites are but a few bunch of idiots. Yep, they have nothing to do in life but crucify Willie Revillame.

Be Practical!

What crime has Willie committed? Yes, he’s arrogant, bragging, proud, bigheaded, BUT Willie Revillame is Willie Revillame. You can’t change his ways.

In spite the negative criticisms, million Filipinos still want him. The high ratings of his show is one big proof. Who cares to watch the never-ending saga of telenovelas – stories sooo boring that you can’t help but yawn? What can the ordinary people get from those shows? Nothing!

Come on! Let’s be practical! The people need money. The ordinary people want to be recognized even for just a brief (TV) exposure. The dreamers want to realize their dreams. The poor wants to have money. These people can’t realize their ambitions by watching telenovelas.

Willie helps the ordinary people. He makes them laugh, he makes them cry, paid them for their stories, their labors. A simple singing out of tune is paid by Willie. A simple tear jerking life story is paid by Willie. A simple comedy is paid by Willie. Where can you find a show where simple act is given financial reward? Only in Willing Willie (now Wil Time Big Time).

Exploiting Poverty?

The hypocrites always say that Willie exploits the poor; he is exploiting poverty. What do you think is the reason why “the Big Network” wants Willie back, yet when Willie called it quits, the big network is all out to make him pay for his “change of mind?” If Willie is exploiting the poor did the hypocrites help trim down poverty when Willie’s show was suspended indefinitely? Who invented poverty anyway? I’m sure it’s Not Willie.

Willie Revillame has his own way of making people laugh. Yes, he makes fun with the contestants, but it’s but natural for a show like Willing Willie.

Be Honest!

Are you one of the hypocrites? Oh, come on, let’s be honest here! The writer enjoyed the show, the rest of the family enjoyed the show, the senior citizens in the family enjoyed the show, even the hard-headed husband watch it…with qualms…sometimes (ssshhh, because the husband wants to watch HBO).

Automated Election : Accepting Defeat with Grace!

The first ever automated election was successfully concluded last May 10 in the Philippines.  The prayer of the more than 35 million registered voters was answered.  But turn of events challenge the people’s trust in the automated election. An outcry of massive fraud is echoing in the four corners of the country.

Cheating is supposedly be eradicated in an automated election. But in a country where losing candidates usually claimed to have been cheated, you just have to contend yourself seeing them air their gripes on air and on paper.

Considered a boost in Philippine electoral reform, the automated election was claimed, especially by the losing candidates, to be rigged with the same issue of massive fraud. Smartmatic, the company who engineered the automated election received the hardest blow of protest.  The Company obviously denied the allegations and advised the complainants to formally file their protest in the proper forum.

Indeed, electoral reforms in the Philippines still need to undergo series of actions directed toward a common goal: Accepting defeat with grace.

This question still haunts the country, “Is fraud present in an automated election?” if yes, “Are you willing to go back to manual counting?” You decide!

Do you have a Winning Character?

Character is commitment, it influences your fate. Being genius without character is not enough, as there are no certainties in life except failure. You have to fail first before knowing what success is. The law of failure is one of the most powerful of all success laws—hmmm, a not so “friendly” law, I guess, huh!

And since failure is a certainty, you must prepare yourself to meet it head-on when it happens. You must learn to recognize it before it gets worse. You must be clear about your financial goals. Do not solely be interested in achieving financial independence without being equip with a firm principle.

How do you respond when the unexpected happens? Are you going to become brutish when your expectations did not work? Is quitting at your top most wanted list? How about running away from the problem?

Hmmm, why not analyze, prepare and try to overcome the problem? You can combat crisis, and your character helps you move to the right path! It is your character that delivers your response to life’s harsh conditions.

Be reminded that quitting is an undeviating solution to a temporary problem. Just imagine your problem has a good mirror image – SOLUTION.

December 25: Not the Birthday of Jesus

The truth about Jesus’ birth day is still a secret up to this time. The truth still puzzled the religious scholars throughout history. Different dates were seen to be the calculated birth dates which were March 28, September 11, and November 18 to mention a few.

Why December 25?

Yore, the Catholic Church did not agree to celebrate Jesus birthday on December 25 because it falls on the feast day of Saturn the harvest god : Saturnalia Festival. Leo 1 the Great AD440-461 even threatened the faithful to not follow this. Until the fifth century, in its effort to convert the masses and to gain more followers, the Catholic Church made it believable to celebrate the 25th of December as the birthday of Jesus Christ. Several Pagan beliefs like the one being celebrated between December 17 and 23 were contained. The integration of Saturnalia festival being the most popular Roman festival held in mid-December to honor the god Saturn was celebrated with feasting, gift-giving, slaves were treated as equals, permitted to wear their masters’ clothing, and eat with their masters.

To demonstrate the truth about the integration of Christmas day and the Saturnalia festival, check the original composition of the Christmas song Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Notice the line which says “Hail the Sun of righteousness! / Light and life to all he brings.” This song was composed by Charles Wesley in 1739 but was changed by George Whitefield in 1753 to “Hail the Son of Righteousness!” and Whitefield also changed the original “Hark how all the welkin rings” to “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”

Saturnalia was the original Christmas and the Romans invented everything.

In spite this truth, I loved Christmas and will continue its tradition no matter what.
